Bournemouth Surf School, situated on Bournemouth beach, are currently the only National Governing Body Surfing GB (SGB) Centre of Excellence approved surf school on the South coast (the highest standard possible for a surf school here in Britain) and the closest school to London.

We pride ourselves on employing the most qualified and experienced staff, including instructors trained to provide surf activities for special populations. We are committed to the development of surfing on the South Coast inline with the SGB’s mission statement, and our own passionate belief to engage more people in sport and recreation by developing surfing and other water skills, hopefully resulting in an increased awareness, appreciation and safe experience of the beach environment.

We offer a selection of different courses to suit all levels and requirements; from complete beginners to expert, from school activity days to specialist private lessons. In addition to training up to elite level surfers, Bournemouth Surf School host beach lifeguard, surf coach and instructor courses, helping establish sustainable numbers of potential instructors and lifeguards for the foreseeable future. We are also currently pleased to provide schools, educational and recreational youth groups, locally and nationally with surf related activities and up to BTEC level theory lessons throughout the year, supported and encouraged by Bournemouth and Poole councils.

Normally our Basic Group Lesson is a 2-3hr lesson, all equipment provided for £35.00pp, £30.00pp for under 16’s. During this lesson our instructors give you an introduction to water safety and beach awareness, then you learn how to trim and ride a board lying down, and hopefully by the end of the lesson, how to 'pop' up and ride the board standing up.

However, we like to offer schools and youth groups a reduced fee based on the number of instructors required; 1 instructor to 8 students, rather than a price per person, to this end we are happy to offer the following:

• 1 to 8 Students - £120.00 + VAT
• 9 to 16 Students - £220.00 + VAT
• 17 to 24 Students - £300.00 + VAT
• 24 to 32 Students - £360.00 + VAT

This would be a two hour lesson, all equipment provided.

All we would require from every student partaking is a signature of consent from a parent / guardian, and information concerning any medical conditions; please see our standard booking form for more information.

Our juniors weekend club is just £10.00 per person for 2 hours training. If you would like to join our weekend juniors club please contact us for further information!

Youth Groups and Scouts

We are also currently pleased to provide schools, educational and recreational youth groups, locally and nationally with surf related activities.

Accessible Surfing

We pride ourselves on employing the most qualified and experienced staff, including instructors trained to provide surf activities for special populations. We are committed to the development of surfing on the South Coast inline with the SGB’s mission statement, and our own passionate belief to engage more people in sport and recreation by developing surfing and other water skills, hopefully resulting in an increased awareness, appreciation and safe experience of the beach environment.

We offer a selection of different courses to suit all levels and requirements; from complete beginners to expert, from full day beach festivals to specialist private lessons. We have invested in equipment specifically designed to accommodate individuals with special needs and worked closely with the Surfable project to ensure our instructors are confidently trained to provide surf based activities for all.

For those not in the know the Surfable project provides opportunities for disabled and disadvantage children and young people (under 21) to take part in surfing activities through a network of surf schools across the country.

Normally our 1-2-1 specialist lessons are £90.00 for two hours, all equipment provided. However, due to match funding, provided by the Surfable (originally Surf Relief) organisation, we are able to offer the following, subject to coach availability:

2 hours 1-2-1 coaching

• £60.00 during peak times (weekends and school holidays)
• £30.00 during off – peak times (weekdays during school term time)
