The 2nd ISA Instructor Course, arranged by DSRF, was the 1st time an ISA Surf Coach course and SUP bolt-on module was held in Denmark.
It was held in Klitmoeller, on the west coast of the Danish Jutland peninsula, 6-8th May 2013. The conditions were perfect for surfing and SUP practicals, sunny and glassy 2-3ft.
The 12 participants met every morning at 9.00 in the local surf club rooms. Key elements of the course were safety on the water, analysis of surf spots for conducting lessons, the different surf skills required for beginners, equipment, teaching and learning styles, including how to give effective feedback.
These courses were delivered with a good balance of theory and practical exercises / drills on the water.
A great learning experience overall, providing the opportunity for all taking part to discuss teaching strategies in both surf and SUP.
The course was organised in collaboration with Andy Joyce, International Surfing Association (ISA) Course Presenter based at Surf Steps in the UK http://www.surfsteps.co.uk .
