BSA Level 1 (Assistant) Surf Coach

Prerequisite:

  • 16 years of age
  • A basic level of personal surfing competency
  • Course fees paid
  • Coaching profile forms completed
  • Course application forms completed

The Level 1 BSA coach is an all inclusive qualification and sits as the first formally assessed qualification on the BSA coaching qualifications pathway. Level 1 is aimed at individuals, with experience of surfing, who are new to surf coaching and who wish to coach basic surfing techniques. The Level 1 award is the minimum requirement for Surf School and Club Coaches, School Teachers and others wishing to teach the sport as BSA Accredited Coaches.

Additional Requirements for Full Qualification / Accreditation

In addition to the successful completion of this course a candidate will not obtain full Accreditation until they have met the following criteria.

  • Course fees paid in full
  • They are full members of the BSA
  • Hold a current NARS SLSA or RLSS Beach Lifeguard Award or NARS Surf Coaches Beach Lifeguard Award ( other awards may be accepted on an individual basis please contact BSA office for advice)
  • Hold a Current CRB Enhanced Disclosure

The award is valid for 3 years from the date of the course taken as long as the following are maintained / updated and kept current.

  • BSA. Membership
  • Beach Lifeguard Award
  • CRB Enhanced Disclosure
